" this list was complied by Phyllis Brown in 1978 plus the directions to the cemetery. In 1988 I followed the instructions and found the cemetery. The dirt road I mentioned above is really just a long lane back to a white house. In 1978 I believe the family that owned the white house at the end of the lane was called Winegar. I have not been back to the cemetery so I do not know the condition of the road the cemetery or if the house is still standing. In 1988 the cemetery was in such a disarray of overgrown trees, bushes that it was almost impossible to verify the names and dates on the tombstones. Janet Farris
Directions: On Court Street go by the court house to the 1st light. Turn left on Highway O. Go 6 miles to Bellama Road. Turn right and proceed on dirt road to a bend, cemetery slightly up a hill on right.

WOMAN DIED THURSDAY
Mrs. Elizabeth Walton Was Visiting in Kansas City
When Taken Ill Mrs. Elizabeth Wood
Walton, 81 years old, a native and live-long resident of Callaway
county, died Thursday morning, May 16, at the home of relatives
in Kansas City where she had been visiting. Mrs. Walton suffered a fall down a flight of
steps and became very ill of pneumonia and complications which
resulted in her death. She had been in failing health for several
years. Mrs. Walton was born
and reared in the Ballinger Springs neighborhood, and she was
married to W. B. Walton of the same community. He preceded her in
death, passing away in 1904.
She is
survived by six children, 19 grandchildren and three great
grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. S. T. Taylor; Fulton, James
H. Walton, Fulton; Mrs. Ollie Maddox, Fulton; Mrs. J. T. Hughes,
Mountain Park, Okla.; Lester E. Walton, Kansas City; Mrs. Bertha
Morts, Kansas City. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Henra A. Cole,
Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Walton united
with the Ham's Prairie Methodist Church when a young girl and had
remained a life-long member of that denomination. Friends in
Fulton extend sincere sympathy to members of the family in their
bereavement.

W.B.WALTON DEAD
W. B. Walton, who lives on the Bellama
Springs road southwest of Fulton, died Saturday night last of
pneumonia. He was sick several weeks ago with measles, and just
as he was recovering exposure to the weather caused pneumonia to
attack him. The deceased was
about fifty years old and leaves a wife and seven children. He
was an Odd Fellow and was buried Sunday in the Burdette cemetery
at Ballenger Springs with the honors of that order. Funeral
services were conducted by Rev. William Castle, of Fulton. The Walton family has been unusually
unfortunate. In November their house was burned and the family
had to make their home in the outbuildings on the farm. Then the
children of the household became sick with measles, and at one
time eight members of the family were down. The death of the
father and chief support of the family comes now to increase
their distress.

Thomas L. Burdett Was born in Boone county, Mo., March 5th, 1890, and died February 5th, 1897, at the home of his sister, Mrs. F.P. Smith, in Fulton, Mo. He was the son of Thos. L. and Sarah Burdett both of whom have preceeded him to the home of the faithful. Four years ago he left Callaway and took up his abode in Redbluff California where he labored in the Gass and Electric light plant for three years. Finding that his health was giving away he sought the fresh vigorating air of the mountains but after a brief stay, and deriving no benefit from the high lands of the golden state, he returned to the valley but still got no relief. He saw the once strong man fading into a pale, weak, lifeless form and realizing that the end was near, he received to spend the last of his days with relatives and friends at home. He had been at home only sixteen days when the Lord spoke peace to his sufferings and his spirit launched forth to try the realities of an unknown world. When he was approached in regard to his future prospects he said. " I have nothing to fear, I have asked the Lord for Divine help and I know he was given it." And even when his eyes had almost closed in death and he was unable to speak the writer asked him if he was still holdind fast to the Savior and he bowed his head in answer to the question. Four brothers and two sisters thou leavest behind. To await the horrors of the grave. But thou hast passed over the river of death, To Jesus, Who is abundantly able to save. J.B.

Mac Burdett died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Frank Smith, on Grand Avenue, at 11o'clock Wednesday morning, aged 54 years, after a long illness, death being caused by the white plague. He was a bachelor and made his home with his sister. Funeral services were held from the home at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon.
