OBITUARY

Died, 3 miles south of McCredie, at her home, Aug. 23rd, 1891, of dropsy, Mrs. Hattie Smith, wife of B.F. Smith, in the 45th year of her age.

The angel of death has come and darkened the light of another happy home, another loved one, in obedience to the summons, has crossed the dark river to be ushered into the presence of the Savior, who said: "Blessed are they that die in the Lord." At one o'clock of that beautiful Sabbath, her soul went back to Him who gave it, but this life. Only a few short years of sorrow and trials here, and we come to that bridge - death, which transports us across the dark river. As we bow in submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well, let us hoe to meet our loved one in the nobler, sweeter clime. May the eye, that never sleeps watch over the bereaved husband the two little children, who will have to breast the storms of life without a mother's tender love, a mother's sympathy and kind advice. What is home without a mother.

She was a devoted member of the Baptist church and gave evidence of her acceptance with God. After a beautiful and appropriate funeral address by Rev. S.H. Pollard, we laid her to rest in the beautiful, quiet church yard at Richland Baptist Church.

Dearest sister, thou hast left us,
Here thy loss, we deeply feel,
But, 'tis God that hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
