SERVICES FOR MRS. WARREN SUMMERS OF MONTGOMERY CITY
Mrs. Warren Summers, 88 of Montgomery City died at the Callaway Memorial Hospital in Fulton, Friday, November 9, following a long illness.
Born Annie Hays on June 20, 1885, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Tate Hays. She was married to Warren Summers on August 20, 1906. The couple lived on a farm near Mineola until their retirement in 1956 when they moved to Montgomery City. Mr. Summers died in 1960.
Mrs. Summers was a member of the Montgomery City Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Charles (Pauline) Scanland of Auxvasse; a son, Forest W. of Roosevelt, Utah; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City with the Rev. Gary Ummel officiating. Burial was in the Montgomery City Cemetery.
The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the cancer fund.

SERVICES OF ANNIE ORVIA HAYS OF MINEOLA
Annie Orvia Hays, daughter of John and Elizabeth Jane (Tate) Hays was born in Callaway County near Mineola, Mo June 20, 1885.
On August 22, 1906 she was married to John Warren Summers of the Price's Branch community. To this union was born Pauline, now Mrs. Charles Scanland, Auxvasse, and Forrest W. Summers of Roosevelt, Utah.
Mrs. Summers died at the Callaway Memorial Hospital , Fulton, Novembver 9, 1973.
She is survived by by two children, four grandchildren, Mary Helen Scanland Malan, Nellie Charlene Scanland Evert, Jane Evelyn Scanland Peterson and John Warren Summers. Also nine great grandchildren survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1960, by her sister Mrs. Roy (Georgia) Blackburn, 1950; and her brother William T. Hays in 1962.
She became a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church at an early age. Later her membership was moved to Mineola Baptist Church and then later transferred to the Montgomery City Baptist Church after she established her home in Montgomery City in 1956.
She was educated at Central Weslyan College, Warrenton, where she prepared herself for elementary teaching.
A greater part of her life has been spent in Callaway County near Mineola.

Summers Rites To Be Wednesday
Montgomery City - John Warren Summers, 80, a resident of eastern Callaway County for 45 years, died unexpectedly Sunday at his home in Montgomery City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mineola Baptist Church with burial in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Masonic rites will be held at the graveside.
A native of Price's Branch, MO, he was born on Feb. 29, 1880, a son of Thomas and Nancy Summers. He grew to manhood in that community then went to St. Louis for eight years. In 1911 he moved to a farm in eastern Callaway County where he lived until his retirement in 1956, when he moved to Montgomery City.
He was married to the former Annie Hays of Mineola on Aug. 22, 1906, and Mrs Summers survives.
About 1915 he joined the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church and later moved his membership to the Mineola Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs Charles (Pauline) Scanland, Auxvasse; a son, Forrest Summers, Woodland, OK; a brother Floyd Summers, Price's Branch, MO; four grandchildren, Mrs. Leslie (Mary Helen) Malan, Highland, IL; Miss Charlene Scanland, Denver, CO; Mrs. Robert (Jane) Peterson, Whittier, CA; and John Warren Summers, Woodward, OK; and three great grandchildren. Charles Summers, Wood River, IL, a nephew, also survives.
