 We need your help in attempting to locate all of the cemeteries of Callaway County, Missouri. As of this time possibly 70% have been located accurately with many more of the more diffucult ones to go. This the requires the time to go out and contact landowners for access and help in locating these cemeteries and the ability to read topographic maps to determine precise locations. To write up in detail how to locate the cemetery and if possible determine accurate Latitude and Longitude using Global Positioning Systems.  We have a number of cemeteries for which we have no listings of burials. If you have the time to volunteer to list a cemetery, taking all of the information from the tombstones there and accurately writing down all of the information, your assistance is desperately needed. If possible this would require transcribing into digital format as well. We hope to provide software eventually to facilitate these listings.  There are a very significant number of Callaway County's Pioneer Cemeteries which are severely endangered and ravaged by time and abuse. We are attempting to photo document these cemeteries with digital cameras to retain what record of them that we may, in the event that the laws of this state are not changed to provide adequate protection for them. We are currently working on more plans to solicit your assistance in providing additional material for this web site.
